SOLD Vintage Persian Sarouk Rug

This cute small rug is absolutely exploding with color. The perfect size for a door or kitchen mat, or as I prefer, set on an ottoman or draped over the back of a chair. This is a typical example of a more modern Sarouk, the design now drastically different than their very floral antique predecessors. The design deployed here is a very intricate repeating pattern known as herati. A central flower is surrounded by an interconnected diamond shape of curved leaves, though many people also refer to it as fish. The rug seems to have been woven without graph paper (known as a cartoon), which is less common with such detailed city rugs. A close look reveals that it has many lovely inconsistencies that bring it more character. It may have been woven entirely by memory and from their mind -- a very skilled weaver.
