Siroon (see-roon) / սիրուն / is the Armenian word for lovely.
It is a nod to the ancient Armenian craft of weaving rugs
​and to our family who established new life here a century ago.
Siroon Rugs & Antiques is run by me (Jeffrey Smith) with the help of my wife, Charlotte. I had long been interested in handmade rugs, though they were something I viewed as inaccessible due to price, conflicting information, and limited understanding. Now that I have spent years researching, studying, collecting and repairing rugs, I want to make this beautiful art form more accessible to others. I seek out quality rugs and offer them here in a way that honestly represents them and their history, for a fair price. Most of my rugs are from the general area of Armenia and Iran.

​I do not offer a typical "add to cart" style experience. Please read below how to move forward with making one of these rugs your own.

Step 1:
Check out the collection of rugs and find the ones that speak to you. Rug weaving was an integral part of life and represent countless months of work. From raising sheep, spinning wool, collecting plants for dyes, to weaving on the loom— it's a process that quite literally takes a village. Symbols, designs, and techniques have been passed down through generations, representing hundreds of years of cultural history. Every rug is one of a kind, full of imperfections, charm, and the intentions of whoever wove it. Choose something you’ll enjoy for decades, not just what works best with your current space or decor.​

Step 2:

Reach out to me for additional information, photos, videos, an in-person viewing, etc. It is difficult to capture the colors, texture and true presence of a rug in a photograph. We are located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. If you are located in Southeast Michigan I would be glad to meet or bring a few rugs to you so that you can experience them in-person.
