Description
Origin: Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran, along the Zagros Mountains.
Age: 1970's, 50+ years old.
Size: 3 feet 4 inches x 5 feet.
Design: This design is called "khesti" meaning tiles or checkered, and is also sometimes referred to as a garden design. 32 squares feature repeating designs of flowering vases, palmettes, abstract diamond eyes, and a simplified tree of life that resembles a leaf. No two squares are exactly alike. Alternating borders of serrated triangles and 8-petal flowers.
Colors: So many colors it is difficult to list them all, many shades of green, light and dark blue, teal, indigo, purple, violet, yellow, orange, red, burnt maroon, peach, ivory, and more.
Foundation: Cotton warp and double cotton weft.
Pile: 100% hand spun wool, medium depth with a fluffy feel and texture and very glossy.
Knotting: Symmetrical knots
Condition: Good condition with some spots of wear, fully original sides and ends, freshly washed.
