SOLD Semi-Antique Persian Tuyserkan Rug

Origin: Tuyserkan district, Hamadan Province, Iran. Many weaving villages make up the Tuyserkan area.

Age: 1960s, 55-65 years old.

Design: Geometric medallion.

Colors: Very vibrant and deep colors of red, pink, yellow, green, light and dark blue, midnight indigo, deep burnt red brown, brown, gray, ivory, black.

Foundation: Cotton warp and single cotton weft.

Pile: Wool, very densely woven of medium depth.

Size: 4 feet 4 inches x 7 feet 2 inches

Knotting: Symmetrical

Condition: Very good original condition with minimal wear to the field. Small area of wear to the lower outer border at the fringe ends, which has been professionally secured. Washed.

This rug is an absolute explosion of color and geometry. Woven in a small village home, this charming rug masterfully blends a wide color palette and countless symbols into a balanced and mesmerizing work of art. The very angular, boxy field and meandering serrated vine and flower border is characteristic of rugs from the Tuyserkan area. The border of the rug includes large-scale herati fish and 8-petal flowers. The field is scattered with many symbols including insects and butterflies, flowers, boteh, and tree of life on either side of the pointed medallion. You'll notice something new every time you look at it!
