Description

Origin: Nahavand City, Hamadan Province, Western Iran.

Age: 1960's, 60-70 years old.

Design: Allover abstract geometric shapes

Colors: Simple, bold colors of red, deep indigo that is almost black, light and dark blue, brown, yellow, and pink.

Foundation: Cotton warp and single cotton weft.

Pile: Wool, dense uniform medium pile with a low sheen.

Size: 3 feet 4 inches x 4 feet 8 inches

Knotting: Symmetrical

Condition: Good condition with uniform pile. A few scattered areas of wear. Ends and sides have been minimally reduced and secured and overcast.

A charming and very quirky village work with very bold and striking colors and design. Repeating vases or urns are surrounded by many small symbols and figures. Large and small boteh, humans, multiple styles of birds, rosettes, tree of life, evil eyes and more. Classic village work from a talented weaver who drew this entirely from their mind, knot by knot.
