Description

Origin: The city of Saman, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran.

Age: 1920s, 95-105 years old.

Design: Large central floral medallion, mostly curvilinear in nature but with with blocky geometric floral sprays throughout the field. A very classic and fine city design heavily influenced by the nearby city of Isfahan.

Colors: All natural vegetal dyes that are incredibly vibrant and saturated. Red, pink, indigo, light blue, green, yellow, peach, tan, dark brown, ivory, black.

Foundation: Cotton warp and double blue cotton weft.

Pile: Uniform low pile with very high quality soft, dense wool.

Size: 4 feet 10 inches by 7 feet

Knotting: Symmetrical, very finely and densely knotted, 140+ knots per square inch.

Condition: Excellent and nearly original condition, minimal areas of low pile and spotting foundation, new side selvage cords. Ready for another 100 years on the floor.
