Description
Origin: The area of Arak, Markazi Province, Iran
Age: 1910-1920, 100-115 years old.
Design: Central medallion with a lattice of floral designs and vases. An uncommon design for Sarouk rugs. This was made for the American market and dyed with a deeper red dye deemed more desirable upon import, sometimes called a “painted Sarouk.”
Colors: All natural vegetal dyes. Reds, indigo, blues, green, browns.
Foundation: Cotton warp and double blue cotton weft.
Pile: Uniform low pile with very soft and stiff wool.
Size: 4 feet 7 inches by 6 feet 7 inches
Knotting: Asymmetrical
Condition: Good original condition with some areas of lower pile, and some oxidation from age causing a carved appearance. A very nice patina. Freshly washed.
