Description

Origin: Peking (Beijing) China.

Age: 1920s, 100 years old.

Design: A classic floral design of the Art Deco era with a garden theme. The central motif features a pagoda surrounded by stones and blooming trees. The rug features a wide variety of flowers including plum tree blossoms, lotus, chrysanthemum, rose, peony, orchid and hibiscus.

Colors: A very bold indigo-dominant rug with a traditional limited color palette. Primarily indigo of dark and light shades, indigo-hued gray as a secondary color, and light accents of brown, yellow and amber.

Foundation: Cotton warp and double cotton weft

Pile: Thick high quality wool pile with a nice antique sheen.

Size: 2 feet 5 inches by 4 feet

Knotting: Symmetrical

Condition: Excellent original condition with full pile and almost no wear. The yellow and brown colors sit slightly lower than the rest of the pile from oxidation from age. A few scattered knots lost on the lower end. Both ends have professionally secured.
